The families of teens missing after a deadly inferno at a bar in a Switzerland's ski resort are confronting an excruciating period of uncertainty for answers and requesting any details about their family members via social media.

The fire devastated the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of the first day of the year. Circulated images depict the ceiling being engulfed in flames as beverages with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have stated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the those who perished of the tragedy, which claimed the lives of four dozen individuals and wounded another 119.
