Tottenham Manager Thomas Frank Calls Vicario Booers 'Not True Genuine Supporters'

Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Spurs and Raise Pressure on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were told afterwards "they can't be true Spurs supporters" by manager Thomas Frank.

Spurs let in a pair of goals in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to their opponents, registering their tenth top-flight at home loss of the year.

But the main talking point was the visitors' second goal when Vicario lost the ball well beyond his area.

He ventured out to deal with a high pass and took the ball towards the touchline.

However, instead of booting it out of play, the Italian spun and attempted to clear, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who bent a shot into the goal from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six yards.

Moments later when the ball came to the keeper once more, some Tottenham supporters booed him.

Spurs were jeered off at the interval, with the side 2-0 behind, and again at the final whistle.

A particular of those booing episodes really irritated the manager.

"I heard some of our supporters reportedly jeered the situation and jeered following, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Dane stated about the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals cannot be true Tottenham supporters that do that. Fair enough jeering after the game, no problem, but when we are in play, we are supporting one another, we are with one another going forward."

Tete had given Fulham a early lead prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second-half performance.

Former top-flight keeper Joe Hart remarked that the next goal was "completely avoidable".

"I do appreciate the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I know the part Vicario is playing. He's a great team player, he's a true leader in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your actions.

"The keeper was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the winning goal."

'It's Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game

Italian international the keeper is in his third season with Spurs.

He stated after the game that he had to accept the criticism.

"That score was a error of my own, I accept accountability for it," he said.

"My aim was to clear the ball far and I just struck the ball in a poor way. That made an more difficult challenge to overcome."

He stated receiving jeers "is part of football".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he continued. "The team can't be affected by the situation in the stands. The fans have the entitlement to do what they think.

"It's on us to remain increasingly composed, to focus on ourselves. We are lacking in calmness and calmness to overturn outcomes. Today is a poor loss and it is tough to accept."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Goal Line'

In spite of the keeper's mistake, it was far from an simple score for Wilson to score.

Actually it was the second most distant top division goal of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard goal for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which incidentally also occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer stated he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

10 moments elapsed between Vicario coming out of his area and Wilson striking – which was five moments after the kick.

"I felt like the keeper was away from the area for ages," Wilson said.

"I was surprised not one of the defenders went back to the line. When not one of them defended the goal, my eyes sparked a bit.

"Udogie fell as well, which gave me a little additional opportunity. After that it was solely about attempting to make the correct contact and get it towards goal. I had a positive sense, the moment it came off my foot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Seems to Go Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unjustifiable - the Manager

Although Vicario's error dominated coverage, this was an overall poor day for Spurs to extend their home ground struggles.

This was their 10th home defeat of 2025 in the league, a joint club record along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

They still have home fixtures against the manager's old side the Bees and champions Liverpool to come prior to the close of the season.

Just a single of those wins have occurred since the manager took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"If you are behind 2-0 following the opening, there is a huge challenge to overcome," said the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything appears to work against you as well – the first was a deflected shot, the next is a error from Vic.

"This result leaves us in a place where we have lost another game. Each fixture has a single story, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We just need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and hopefully something we can use to learn."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 straight at home London derbies for the first time in the top division.

And they are averaging 9.5 attempts and three point two shots on target per game in the Premier League – their lowest rates on record in a one season (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Cottagers midfield player Danny Murphy commented that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the stick," Murphy said. "He's accepted a prestigious job at a huge team with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and duty that comes with that.

"The performances at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
