The 22-year-old tennis player Emma Raducanu wraps up her season and plans to retain coach for 2026.
Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four major tournaments during the season.
Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from her remaining competitions in 2025 due to a medical condition she has been battling for the last week and a half.
At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to rest and recuperate ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season.
Those preparations will include her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating again next season.
Raducanu required blood pressure checks in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.
She again required a visit from the doctor at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.
Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the final set in the match with Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has affected her at times this year.
These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.
She held three match points then was defeated by Jessica Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.
The player achieved twenty-eight matches this year and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.
The British number one made the last eight of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament prior to a loss in three sets to the world number four Pegula.
She was coached by Mark Petchey as coach between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.
The original arrangement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but the partnership will continue, with planned training sessions late this year.
Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.
The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.
The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
