Palestinian-American Teenager Freed Following 270 Days in Israel's Custody

A Palestinian-American teenager having endured nine months in imprisonment by Israel absent formal charges was released.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old when he was arrested last February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing while residing in Florida accused of stone-throwing toward Israeli settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

United States authorities expressed satisfaction with Mohammed's liberation.

Now sixteen years old, was taken to hospital upon gaining freedom, family members reported.

Family described him as showing signs of malnutrition, and experiencing medical problems acquired while detained.

Through an official statement, the youth's uncle conveyed their "immense relief".

Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"Right now, we're concentrating on providing Mohammed with prompt healthcare necessary for his recovery after being subjected to mistreatment by authorities and cruel circumstances over several months."

The state department stated they would maintain to extend consular services to Mohammed's family.

{"US government authorities has no higher priority to ensuring the safety of American nationals"," officials stated.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers had signed a letter to US authorities and the administration, requesting additional efforts to secure his release.

Mohammed's parent, parent of four children who runs an ice cream business from Florida, previously said his son only confessed regarding stone throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

There were no visits nor direct contact following the detention, learning information solely regarding the treatment through judicial records.

He stayed lacking indictment at Ofer detention facility throughout the occupied territory.

Additionally housing adult prisoners, some of whom have been convicted for major terrorist activities including killings.

An estimated 350 Palestinian child security detainees being held in Israeli jails, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Many have never been charged and human rights groups, including UN bodies, document cases involving abuse and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, family representatives announced relatives would persist in advocating demanding accountability for their family member Sayfollah Musallet.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen who the Palestinian health ministry said was beaten to death by Israeli settlers during a confrontation during summer.

At the time, military authorities reported officials were investigating accounts of a Palestinian had died.

Both young men collaborated in the family ice cream shop from Tampa.

No one has been charged regarding Sayfollah's death.

"We anticipate United States leadership to protect our families," family representatives emphasized.
